nucl.ai is the largest worldwide conference about Artificial Intelligence applications in interactive media, training & simulations, and digital entertainment. It brings together hundreds of professional developers and enthusiasts, and reaches thousands of programmers and designers via its online stream.

nucl.ai grew out of the Game/AI Conference, running since 2008, and now in its 7th edition. The event was previously held in Paris at the CNAM Institute, before moving to the University of Vienna in 2012.

Portraying characters is one of the most challenging aspects of building an engaging 3D world. While many low-level aspects of character animation technology have been resolved, there are many questions that remain open as the industry pushes towards more procedural blend trees. How should gestures be controlled by AI? — What's a way to maintain believable yet flexible locomotion?

Rick Owen’s wife, muse, creative collaborator and business partner, Michèle Lamy is revered as one of the fashion industry's true eccentrics. She cuts a distinctive silhouette even in the fashion circles of Paris, owning to her singular gothic priestess look and gold teeth. Lamy first met Owens through his then-boyfriend, hiring him as a patternmaker for her own line, Lamy. At the time she was living in Los Angeles and running Les Deux Café, one of Hollywood’s true insider spots, based behind an unmarked door in a car park.

Owens and Lamy moved to Paris in 2002 to reopen the furrier house Revillon and introduce Rick's signature line, for which she is a muse and creative consultant. Lamy also works with London-based designer Gareth Pugh and Ahmed Abdelrahman, an Emrati designer who launched his label Thamanyah in 2011. Algerian by blood, Lamy was born and grew up in France during the Second World War.

Woran schmutzen wir uns jetzt für die Verbindung der Disziplinen? — Es ist klar, dass der genetische Selbstheilungsversuch Unterstützung gegen seine Manipulatoren braucht. Da helfen weder Verbote noch rigorose Gesetze, die man immer zu umgehen weiß. Weder Bio noch Intelligent Food, noch hyperthreading-Arznei werden das ausgleichen. Die einzige Rezeptur gegen Manipulation ist eine massentaugliche Verbreitung des Wissens zur Förderung der Autonomie in der Entwicklung der Instrumente und im Umgang mit ihnen.

Das Erkennen von neuronalen bestehenden Netzwerken bleibt ein sinnvoller Weg, um aus Selbstwahrnehmung wieder ein geistiges Bewusstsein für eine Gruppe zu schaffen. Die Selbst-Profilierung der Eigenempfindung kennt kein Institut – Kreativität ist keine wissentliche Entscheidung! — Und natürlich war Individualität immer schon ein notwendiger Überlebensfaktor, weil »Gleichzeller«, welcher Größe auch immer, gleich schnell durch das eigen proklamierte Symptom wieder verschwunden sind.

Die Gründung einer sich selbst gewichtenden Gruppe ist ein Riesenspagat, aber ein ganz zündender Gedanke in einer Zeit, in der jeder für sich seine Lebensform und durchaus übergreifende mentale Haltungen prüft. Hat die Fähigkeit zum Überleben überhaupt noch andere Ziele bzw. Adressen außer sich selbst? Bei der gigantischen Menge an schlummerndem und zum Teil selbst gezähmten Talent ist es nur eine Frage an Zeit, bis jener »Aggressor« auch nach seinem natürlichen Ausdruck verlangt. — Und die Zeit ist Jetzt, meinte man! — Nicht, dass die visuelle Industrie Fortschritte gemacht hätte, aber sie beginnt aus eigener Notwendigkeit zu verstehen, dass die Themen nicht »sozial am Punkt« behandelt werden. Das ändern weder Wireless noch dessen verschlüsselte Zugänge auf Inhalte. Absolut unverständlich bleibt für mich, warum bei aller Durchsichtigkeit noch immer keine Erkenntnisse zum breiten Nutzen bereitstehen. Es scheint, als würden da irgendwelche Controller aus ihren Löchern nach den Noten pfeifen, weil die Musik einfach keinen ausgewogenen Klang mehr ergibt.
