Freda&#8217;s work combines both traditional and modern approaches, from experience gained in type design and font development since the 70s for various font manufacturers, in the technological evolution of the type industry. &#8212; The Foundry a joint venture in 1990 with fellow type designer David Quay, was one of the original independent type foundries, specializing in sans serifs and fine text families. &#8212; Ten years on, Freda set up Foundry Types Ltd to continue her parallel work in the design and implementation of specially commissioned fonts; and to further the development of The Foundry&#8482; Typeface library. Her corporate work includes typefaces designed for directories &#8211;Yellow Pages [awarded a D&amp;AD Silver] &#8211; to type for jumbo jets &#8211; Swiss Airlines. &#8212; Currently President of the International Society of Typographic Designers, Freda dedicates much time and energy to promoting typography in all its inspiring forms.
